This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The bottom has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
My name is Dustin Evans. I have worked as a professional illustrator since 2004 on everything from comic books to film. I have a BFA from Oklahoma State University. You can find my artwork in publications from Disney, IDW, Ape Entertainment, Viper Comics, Penny Farthing Press, Magic Wagon (ABDO Publishing) and many more. I was recently featured on the Conan O'Brien show for a rendering of the Flaming C. Coming in 2012 2 all new, all original works from myself and collaborators. One, Qwakar, an all ages animated comic book romp about an adventuring Barbarian Duck and two, a yet to be announced publication from Viper Comics I'm working on with partner in comic crime, Mike Hall. I also have a 4 book publication that I wrote and illustrated being released from Magic Wagon in 2012. Details to follow. I'm available for commissions, just email me! -Dustin Evans
It depends if you're submitting to get a job drawing for them, or if you're submitting to get your own creator owned property published. If you're trying to get work, you should use pre-existing characters for your samples, like X-men, Batman, etc...if you're trying to pitch your own book and property, then you would be right to use your own characters. Hope that helps!
Then you should definitely use pre-existing characters scripts, so the companies know that you can tell a story using panels and following a script. It's tough, but I can tell you everyone uses this as a guide. From the companie's perspective, they know how other characters are supposed to look, but they would have no idea how your original characters are supposed to be portrayed, so how would they know if something is wrong? You know what I mean?
Like do i use my own characters when submitting and do i keep the rights to my own series when submitting to Indie Comic Book Companies? Would i like my friend,John sign a paper for the right to use Dark Hood since i'm the co-creator. He says he doesn't mind if i work for a Comic Book Company.
